Upgrade the extension
When updating from version < 18.10 to a version >= 18.10, you need to
- Retrieve a new license from Centreon support
- Make sure your Centreon MBI server is based on a supported OS. You may use the following procedure to migrate your server: Migrate your reporting server
The upgrade of Centreon MBI consists of four steps:
- Updating the repository
- Updating the extension interface
- Updating the reporting server
- Updating the MariaDB database
Prerequisitesβ
Upgrade your central serverβ
Step 1: Update the repositoryβ
When you upgrade from a previous major version to 26.10.x, you first need to update the repository on your Central & Reporting servers.
You will find the new "Business" repository on the "Repositories" page in your Centreon Support account.
On the reporting server, you also need to install the 26.10 standard repository:
- Alma / RHEL / Oracle Linux 9
- Alma / RHEL / Oracle Linux 10
- Debian 13
dnf install -y dnf-plugins-core
dnf config-manager --add-repo https://packages.centreon.com/rpm-standard/26.10/el9/centreon-26.10.repo
dnf clean all --enablerepo=*
dnf install -y dnf-plugins-core
dnf config-manager --add-repo https://packages.centreon.com/rpm-standard/26.10/el10/centreon-26.10.repo
dnf clean all --enablerepo=*
If your reporting server still runs Debian 12, do not use this procedure. Follow Upgrading Centreon and Debian (12 to 13) on the same server instead: it upgrades Debian and Centreon MBI together and switches the standard, business and plugins repositories to trixie.
On Debian 13, the repositories must point to trixie. The standard repository line is:
deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/centreon.asc] https://packages.centreon.com/apt-standard/ trixie-26.10-stable main
The Business repository line you get from the support portal must also use trixie. Run the following commands to add the standard repository:
install -d /etc/apt/keyrings
wget -O /etc/apt/keyrings/centreon.asc https://apt-key.centreon.com
echo "deb [signed-by=/etc/apt/keyrings/centreon.asc] https://packages.centreon.com/apt-standard/ $(lsb_release -sc)-26.10-stable main" | tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/centreon-26.10-stable.list
apt update
Check that all Centreon repository lines use trixie:
grep -h "packages.centreon.com" /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list
Step 2: Upgrade the extension interfaceβ
- Update the package, run the following commands:
- Alma / RHEL / Oracle Linux 9
- Debian 13
dnf clean all
dnf update centreon-bi-server
apt clean
apt update
apt install --only-upgrade centreon-bi-server
- Update through the interface: Log on to the Centreon web interface, go to Administration > Extension > Manager and click the Update button to update the extension and the widgets.
Step 3: Upgrade the reporting serverβ
Java version requirementβ
Version 26.10 requires Java 25. When upgrading the MBI packages, java (OpenJDK 25) is automatically installed as a dependency, if needed. The cbis service always uses /usr/lib/jvm/java-25-openjdk on Alma / RHEL / Oracle Linux and /usr/lib/jvm/java-25-openjdk-amd64 on Debian 13. Once the upgrade is complete, you can remove the Java 17 packages left over from version 25.10, if no other application on the server uses them.
Upgrade procedureβ
Now you can start the upgrade process:
-
Connect to your reporting server and stop the scheduler service (CBIS):
systemctl stop cbis -
Then run the following commands:
- Alma / RHEL / Oracle Linux 9
- Debian 13
dnf install -y https://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/epel-release-latest-9.noarch.rpm
dnf clean all
dnf update -y centreon-bi\* centreon-perl-libs-common
apt clean
apt update
apt install -y --only-upgrade centreon-bi-reporting-server centreon-perl-libs-common
Make sure the cron service is installed, enabled and active (it may be missing on servers originally installed on Debian 12):
apt install -y cron
systemctl enable --now cron
systemctl is-active cron
The last command must return active.
-
Start the scheduler service:
systemctl start cbis -
Start and enable gorgoned:
systemctl start gorgoned && systemctl enable gorgoned
Step 4: Upgrade the MariaDB databaseβ
-
Stop the cbis service:
systemctl stop cbis -
See Upgrading MariaDB.
On Debian 13, if the package asks whether to replace
/etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/50-server.cnf, keep your currently installed version (answer N). The package version setsbind-address = 127.0.0.1, and the central server would then no longer be able to reach the reporting database. -
Check that MariaDB is running:
systemctl is-active mariadbThe command must return
active. On Debian 13, also check that MariaDB still listens on all interfaces:grep "^bind-address" /etc/mysql/mariadb.conf.d/50-server.cnfThe value must be
0.0.0.0. If it is127.0.0.1, set it back to0.0.0.0and restart MariaDB withsystemctl restart mariadb. -
Start the cbis service:
systemctl start cbis
